Helder M. Brito Carrasqueira is a senior lecturer at the University of the Algarve's School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism, where he teaches in the field of Economics in the specific areas of Portuguese and European Economics, International Economics and the Internationalization of Tourism Businesses. He is the Head of the Scientific Committee of the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism, and he is responsible for the Quality and Evaluation Department of the University of the Algarve, where he monitors the evaluation process of students and staff and their learning and teaching. From 1997 until 2007, he was the Institutional Coordinator for the evaluation of undergraduate courses in the University's Schools. Helder Carrasqueira holds a degree In International Relations from the ISCSP, Universidade Técnica, Lisbon (UTL), and a Masters degree in International Economics from ISEG/UTL. He has completed his PhD in Economics at FEUA/UAlg. He coordinated the research project "The Internationalization of Tourism Companies – New Trends", sponsored and edited by ICEP (Dec. 99). In 1987 he conducted the study "Ria Formosa – a social-economic essay", which was awarded an honorable mention from the National Research Prize in the field of Environment, Cabinet of State for the Environment and Natural Resources. He co-edited the ESGHT's dissemination journal (2006/2008). He has contributed several articles in edited books, including the recent book edition of Governance and Management Models in Higher Education, and he has published articles in national and international scientific journals. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences and seminars, having presented at thirty-three events. From 1990 to 1994, before becoming a university lecturer, he worked at the Algarve Euro cabinet as a member of the DG XXIII network of the European Commission, located in CCRA, Faro, where he worked on European Union information targeted at companies and entrepreneurial cooperation.
