Special issue: Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applied to Hospitality, Management and Tourism

The society of today is characterized by creativity and by the role played by new ideas which originate continuous innovation, whether in business or in technology. This situation leads to new forms of complexity and knowledge in several areas of society and in various sectors of activity, such as management, hospitality, marketing, tourism, among others.

This context provides the opportunity for researchers and professionals in these industries to explore the potential of emerging technologies applied to the daily activities of institutions and organizations. Furthermore, sharing, cooperating and increased productivity, fostered by online tools, has led to the development of new consumer trends, to the emergence of new professions, new products, new business models and new technologies, both in device terms and in terms of functionality.

As we all know, information and communication technologies (ICT) are of fundamental importance when applied to the various industries and they have contributed to disseminate information. In addition, they have revolutionized many business processes, maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations, causing transformations throughout the value chain.

For this special issue, we welcome submissions that explore the application of ICT to the hospitality, management, marketing and tourism sectors, providing original viewpoints and/or innovative empirical research. Therefore, we invite international researchers, postgraduate students and educators to share their research. Empirical and conceptual papers, as well as case studies, are welcome. Papers submitted should have between 5000 and 7000 words, including references and appendices. The papers may be written in one of the following languages: Portuguese, English or Spanish. The deadline for submission is the 2nd May 2015. Please follow our Guidelines for Submission available on the journal webpage www.dosalgarves.com . Papers which are not formatted as per the journal’s guidelines will not be accepted.

Submission of a manuscript will be held to imply that it contains original unpublished work not being considered for publication elsewhere.
