The main aim of the journal dos Algarves has been to disseminate the scientific and scholarly research of the academic community and alumni from the School of Management, Tourism and Hospitality (ESGHT), University of the Algarve. At present, our journal is particularly interested in broadening its scope of authors, aiming to publish articles from national and international researchers whose studies fall within the research areas and learning interests of our School. Since its first issue in 1995, this journal has been dedicated to presenting the multidisciplinary work carried out at ESGHT. It has published articles in the disciplinary and research fields of Applied Tourism, Hospitality, Business, Finance (including Accountancy), Law, Social Sciences (applied to Tourism, Hospitality and Business research), applied ICT and Applied Linguistics, with a special focus on Languages for Specific Purposes. The journal publishes one issue per year, with an average of eight 5,000-word articles. These articles either present an applied research viewpoint or assume a more essay-type nature. As the quality of many of the research projects of our undergraduates in their final year has been of a high level, the journal has also published several articles based on these studies. The journal includes a section called Dossiers Pedagógicos dedicated to learning and teaching practices and methods applied to the relevant areas of our undergraduate courses. These texts aim to provide a new approach to the teaching/learning experience and uncover new ways of enriching the interdisciplinary approach to curricula and syllabuses. In the last section of each issue we publish abstracts from PhD theses written by members of the School’s teaching staff. Issue no. 19 – 2010 is the first to be published solely online and with open access, after registration. However, through our website you have access to our archive of previous issues. |
